#25 2nd Corinthians 5:17&21 NIV

2nd Corinthians 5:17&21 NIV

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has gone, the new has come! God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.

12/03/06-12/05/06

To be in Christ is to be joined to Him in a deep and profound spiritual sense so that we were in some divine and mysterious way with Him and in Him when He died on the cross. We were crucified with Christ (Gal. 2:20). If we died with Christ, we will also live with Him (Rom. 6:8). Yet even now it is not we who live but Christ living in us (Gal. 2:20). When we died with Christ, it was the old sinful self that died. We were made dead to sin but we are now made alive to God by Christ Jesus (Rom. 6:11-13). Jesus, the sinless lamb of God, took our sin on the cross and took the punishment in our place so that everyone who believes in Him might have His righteousness – the very righteousness of God. Let all God’s children pray, “Father, help us to know what it means that we are a new creation in You. May we grasp this: that we are dead to sin and now living for You alone. Lord, stir in our hearts a desire to be truly dead to sin and living for Your glory. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking our sins away and giving us Your righteousness. Fill our hearts with gratitude, humility, love, and adoration. You are our Lord. May all our lives be for Your glory. Help us to truly grasp the depth of Your love for us. May Your praises rise from our hearts and Your light shine from our lives, forever. Amen.”
