But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, He will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Here there is no conflict with the law.

This kind of fruit can only come from the Holy Spirit when we have surrendered our selves to God and His will. When we allow Him full control in our lives, He will begin this work in us. This fruit characterized Jesus Christ and His life on earth and should be manifesting itself in the heart and life of every believer. This list is so intertwined that you can have very little of any one of them without all the others. But the greatest of these is love (1st Cor. 13:12-13). We pray, “God, our Father in heaven, we surrender ourselves to You now. Help us to live each day fully surrendered to You. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit and may He work in us, producing abundant fruit in our hearts and lives. In this way, Father, make us more like Your Son, Jesus Christ, and conform us to His image.
